Zip-up tracksuit jacket Allemagne de l'Ouest 1960's

Zipped sweatshirt West Germany 1960's

West Germany began the 1960s with memories of the Miracle of Berne and the 1954 World Cup victory still fresh in their minds. Things were changing, however, and a quarter-final exit in 1962 in Yugoslavia encouraged a programme of change. Full professionalism was finally adopted and the establishment of a national Bundesliga helped improve the quality of play in West Germany. The appointment of Helmut Schön in 1964 as Sepp Herberger's successor also played a major role in leading his country to the World Cup final in 1966 and the semi-finals in 1970. Most importantly, he oversaw the development of the next generation. National team players will gradually replace the stars of the 1960s, Schnellinger, Seeler, Overath, Haller and Tilkowski.
