History of Real Betis

Real Betis is a football club from the city of Sevilla, Spain, founded in 1907 in Andalusia. At the time, it was part of the football team of the omnisport club of the same name. The Spanish club's home games are played at the Benito Villamarin stadium, which has a capacity of 60,720.

Real Bétis won the Spanish league in 1935, one of only nine clubs in Spain to win the 'Primera División' title, now known as LaLiga Santander (Liga BBVA between 2008 and 2016). He also won two Spanish Cups in 1977 and 2005. The team reached the final of the Spanish League Cup in 1986, and the Spanish Supercup in 2005. In the 2005-2006 season, it played in its first Champions League and finished third in the group stage behind English clubs Chelsea and Liverpool.
