Canada 1977 long sleeve home jersey
While Canadian football would reach its peak in the 1980s with a World Cup qualifier and the only national success to date in its CONCACAF Regional Championship, the roots of that success began to grow a decade earlier. Participation in the 1976 Olympic Tournament was a by-product of organizing the event in Montreal, but qualification for the CONCACAF championship a year later was won on the field with a 3-0 victory over the United States. At the tournament, Canada achieved a respectable fourth place finish thanks to the brilliant leadership of West German coach Eckhard Krautzun and goals from forward Buzz Parsons.
