Founded in 1906 as FC Neudorf, Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace played its first official matches in 1909 within the German federation. It was renamed in 1919 and joined the French competitions. Playing at the Meinau stadium since 1921, it obtained professional status in 1933 and reached the final in 1937 and in 1947 before the inevitable first consecration in 1951. He then began to make a name for himself on the continental stage, eliminating big clubs such as AC Milan and FC Barcelona in his first appearance.
