The New Balance Catalyst pack brings together the brand's football boots with a metallic theme, featuring light grey Fresh Air, Harbour Grey, and Satsuma orange. Each model offers its own interpretation, from the bright and orange Furon v9 to the darker Tekela v5.

You will find the Furon v9 in Elite, Pro and Team finishes, and the Tekela v5 in Team Low Laced, all with FG outsole for natural grass.

What is the New Balance Catalyst pack?

The New Balance Catalyst pack is the colour pack for the start of the 2026 season at New Balance: the brand brings together its speed and control lines under a metallic theme, built around three shades, Fresh Air, a very light grey, Harbor Grey, a darker grey, and Satsuma Orange. It was released in September 2026.

The pack doesn't introduce new technology: it is a seasonal refresh that gives each model its own interpretation of the same theme. On this page, you will find two lines:

  • The Furon v9, in a light Fresh Air upper, with warm gradients of yellow and Satsuma orange.
  • The Tekela v5, in a darker version in Harbor Grey, highlighted with black details and bright yellow accents.

The principle of a pack remains the same as with other brands: the colour is common, but the shoes each maintain their own construction and the player profile they are aimed at.

Furon v9 or Tekela v5: which Catalyst shoe to choose?

The Furon v9 is the speed model from New Balance, while the Tekela v5 is for control and changes of direction. The choice depends on your style of play, not the colour.

  • The New Balance Furon v9 targets players who attack space: a slim and direct shoe, seeking the cleanest touch and good grip when you sprint or change direction quickly. Winger who makes deep runs, forward who plays behind the defense, full-back who keeps making overlapping runs: that’s its target.
  • The New Balance Tekela v5 is designed for close control and dynamic play. It keeps sharp direction changes, with a softer touch and some grip on the upper for receiving or pivoting under pressure. Midfielder directing play, playmaker, player who frequently touches the ball in tight spaces: it will suit you better.

If you're unsure, start with what you do the most during a match. Lots of runs and calls: go for the Furon. Lots of balls received with your back to goal or in crowded spaces: choose the Tekela. All the brand's shoes are gathered on the football shoes New Balance page.

Elite, Pro, Team: what do the New Balance range levels change?

Elite, Pro, and Team represent three levels of finish of the same model, from the most refined to the most accessible. The shape and the spirit of the shoe remain the same, with differences in the upper materials and the level of detail in the sole.

  • Elite: the high-end version, worn in matches by players under contract with the brand. In the Catalyst pack, it exists on the Furon v9.
  • Pro: the intermediate level, which carries the silhouette in a simpler construction. It’s a good choice for a club player who trains and plays every week. The Furon v9 Pro is part of this selection.
  • Team: the most accessible finish, suitable for training, as a second pair, or for players who don’t want to invest in high-end shoes. It is offered here on the Furon v9 and the Tekela v5.

With the Furon v9 available in Elite, Pro, and Team, you can keep the same model and colour while just adjusting your budget. For the Tekela v5, the pack starts with the Team Low Laced version, which means it has a low upper and is laced.

FG: on what ground to play with the shoes from the pack?

All pairs in the Catalyst pack shown on this page have an FG sole, designed for dry to moderately wet natural grass. It’s the most common sole in clubs, used for weekend matches on grass.

  • On firm natural grass, an FG is the right choice: its moulded studs grip without sinking. All pairs of this type can be found on the dry ground football shoes page.
  • On synthentic, an FG can work occasionally, but it wears out faster and places more strain on the joints. If you often train on this type of surface, check out the synthetic ground football shoes page as well.
  • On a wet and muddy pitch, in the winter, a sole with screw-in studs performs better. The models concerned are on the soft ground football shoes page.

Many players end up having two pairs: one FG for matches on grass, and another sole for training on synthetic or during the wettest months.

How to choose your size in New Balance?

Choose your size by leaving a very slight space in front of your big toe, without your foot moving side to side. A football shoe fits more snugly than a trainer, but a pair that is too short will hurt from the first steps.

Measure your foot at the end of the day, standing up, and compare it to the size guide on the product page. The Furon and Tekela do not have the same internal volume: a size that fits you in one may not be right in the other. If you already own a pair of New Balance from the same line, that’s the best point of comparison.

Catalyst is not the only release of the season. All collections are grouped on the New Packs page, and you can check them out one by one:

Where to find the New Balance Catalyst pack at the best price?

A pack colour is sold at full price upon its release, and then joins the commercial pages of the site when the brand launches the next collection. To see upcoming colours, follow the new football shoes and the new arrivals page. For deals, the football shoe promotions, the shoe deals, and the shoe clearance include pairs whose colourway is no longer the latest release, often older New Balance packs.

In calendar order, the Black Friday football shoes opens the season, followed by the year-end holidays, the winter shoe sales, and the French Days in the spring. The special offers and clearance pages cover the entire catalogue. And if you have a match coming up, the shoes dispatched within 24h page gathers the models handled the quickest.

Frequently asked questions about the New Balance Catalyst pack

Why don’t the Furon and Tekela have the same colourway?

In the Catalyst pack, New Balance interprets the same theme in several ways rather than a single colour. The Furon v9 starts with a light base with orange gradients, while the Tekela v5 is in a darker grey. So you choose your pair based on the model, and you still capture the spirit of the pack regardless of the line.

Is the Catalyst a new shoe model?

No, Catalyst is a seasonal colourway. The Furon v9 and Tekela v5 keep their construction, with no new technology announced by the brand. If you already own one of these models in a different colour, you'll find the same fit.

What does “Low Laced” mean on the Tekela v5?

Low refers to a low upper, without a high collar around the ankle, and Laced indicates a laced version. It’s the simplest configuration to adjust, especially if you have wide feet or if you're not used to laceless shoes.

Does the Catalyst pack come in kids’ sizes?

There is no kids' version on this page at the moment: the pairs offered are in adult sizes. For a young player, the Team finishes from New Balance remain the most suitable entry-level shoes, and other colours from the brand can be found on the New Balance football shoes page.

How long will the pack remain available?

A pack colour remains prominent until the next New Balance collection is released. The most common sizes sell out first, while the last pairs move to promotions and clearance. If you like a model in your size, it’s best not to wait.
