The late 1970s was an exciting time for Palermo, highlighted by a Coppa Italia final in 1979, lost only in the dying moments of extra time against Juventus. The 1979 - 80 season ended with a 9th place finish in Serie B under the management of Giancarlo Cadè, featuring some memorable moments but not quite enough consistency.
